CAN Bans Political Campaigns in Churches in South-East, Faults Obi’s Panel over Anambra Stampede:

Photo0093
The southeast zonal chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has banned political campaigns in churches across the zone.

Besides, the Christian umbrella body in the area has also asked the Federal Government to immediately set up a panel of inquiry to investigate the remote causes of the incident that happened last Saturday at a prayer ground in Anambra state, where about 28 persons lost their lives in a stampede.
It noted that the inquiry panel set up by Governor Peter Obi of Anambra was wrong, as the governor cannot be a judge in his own case.
Chairman of CAN in South East and the Bishop of Enugu Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chukwuma who handed down the order Monday while reacting to the Uke, Anambra unfortunate incident,  said CAN is becoming worried on how politicians come inside churches to campaign which he said, has fast become a menace.
Chukwuma stated that the tragic incident in Anambra is of great concern to CAN, adding that they sympathize with the relatives of the victims.
“It is my own duty as CAN chairman south east to ban all politicians from attending our churches with their political teams for campaigns. The church should also stay clear of partisan politics because there are different kinds of people in the church that belong to different political parties.
“So it’s wrong to come into the church and begin to talk about manifestos and begin to campaign. It is not going to be acceptable any more because it causes commotion and disrespect to one another.
“We appeal to priests, pastors, Bishops, clergymen to please avoid politicians coming to use churches as campaign arena. This does not augur well for our spiritual growth.
“We therefore urge the Federal government to set up investigation panel to find out what actually happened because we feel very much worried. Since the state government is involved, I think there should a neutral body for the investigation.”
The southeast CAN leader, also noted that the way things are going in Anambra state is worrisome and urged the people of the state not to allow themselves to be bought over by moneybags.
“They should be very clear on who they want as governors in the state and the wish of God should be upheld. So we hereby appeal to politicians to stay clear of our churches so that peace can reign and people be allowed to vote for candidates of their choice. The mandate of the people must be respected in the coming election,” the Bishop declared

Gov. Peter Obi, Obiano Picketed & Pelted With Pure Water by Traders During Market Campaign (Photo)

Traders say they are ready to sweep away deception politics  and looting by  Peter Obi

onitsha

Traders in Onitsha Main Market today resisted the order by the state government to close the markets in order to welcome Mr. Willie Obiano,  candidate of APGA.

The confusion which followed the order marred the proposed visit  of the APGA candidate in company Chief Martins Joe-Martins Uzodike, Obiano's Campaign Manager who also doubles as the State Commissioner for Information, Tourism & Culture.

The traders showed visible anger as they marched through the market carrying placards.
They were soon joined by another contingent marching from Ose Okwodu with brooms and before one could say Jack Robinson, bystanders , youngsters and Okada riders joined them chanting songs in favor of the APC candidate , Senator Chris Ngige.

The arrival of the Governor Obi and Obiano did not deter the protesting traders rather bolstered the aggrieved traders

The governor’s entourage was pelted with sachet water bags, prompting a quick retreat to Whitehouse office of the Onitsha Amalgamated Traders Association (OMATA), where the donation of N1m announced by the governor was shouted down with many booing his entourage.

One of the traders explained  the reason for their action: ‘ We received an  executive order from the government this morning saying that we should not open our shops , of which we felt that  the order  is not in our best interest’

Mr. Andrew Agbapu,a Trader in Fancy Line said ‘ Every time they will close our business without considering our own interest ’.

Another trader in home appliance line, Mr. Fred Nebedum further explained;’ It is not by force to support a candidate. The worst is that he should come and say what he wants to do and others will also come. But it does not mean we would  not open our shops for that? Imagine, my shop have been closed since morning. Is Peter Obi going to feed me? ‘

Mr. Phil Onyia, of Abada line, Williams Street was harsher ‘The truth is that this government is forcing an unpopular candidate; someone who wants to spoil our business by closing market  arbitrally  for him to come and campaign and that is why we have this problem.

We want Ngige, although we do not say anybody else should not campaign, but they should stop playing with our stomach for politics.’ Onyia fumed.

Governor Peter Obi was reported as saying that political parties will not be allowed to campaign in the markets, a policy sharply criticized by opposing political parties as unlawful.

For him to flout the same law he enacted left the Traders seething and Closing the market against popular wish was the final straw that led to the rebellion

The embarrassed governor together with APGA candidate, Willie Obiano was later seen on foot in Bida Street ,a popular street adjourning the market who were not affected by the executive fiat and they were on their way to inspect the road construction going on in the busy street and some of the traders who have their shops on the street ran out of their shops just to catch a glimpse of the governor and the APGA candidate with some of them Hailing him  "Okwute"

It was a sweet sour visit for the Governor and his campaign team in the political conscious market

Obiano caught with Prepared QUESTION & ANSWERS in his pocket during a DEBATE

anambra-election-debate-cheating-ubah-asks-obiano-to-drop-out-of-governorship-raceEXPO PAPER grabbed from his pocket ..

Chief Obiano .........How Manage Oga on top is even a better case ?
ubah

Peter Obi's errand boy, Obiano disgraced himself yesterday and caused grievous embarrassment to his party and supporters as he was caught red handed cheating at the gubernatorial debate conducted today at Women Development Center, Awka. Contrary to the rules, Mr. Obiano smuggled answers to the debate hiding it in his pocket but he  was eventually caught by the sharp eyes of  Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah.

My people,

this is the character and integrity level of the fellow they are propping up to rule Anambra a man who could not answer a simple question about immunity.
So even governorship debate could be rigged? Obiano came to debate that evening with prepared answers whereas the audience were told that neither the Candidates nor the Panelists had any prior knowledge of the Questions. How come Obiano attended with prepared answers?
Nigeria really has a long way to go!! Thanks to ifeanyi Ubah who grabbed his answer sheets and raised it to the audience and cameras at the end.
VIDEO COMING!

Meanwhile Dr. Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah, the one of the candidates for the Anambra state November 16, 2013 gubernatorial election has called on Mr. Willie Obiano to, as a matter of decency, hide his head in shame and drop out of the race. Ubah, the Labour Party (LP) flag-bearer in a media statement of Saturday November 2, called on Obiano, his All Progressive Grand Alliance
(APGA) counterpart to withdraw from the governorship campaign and election for cheating at the debate organized for some of the election contestants in Awka on Friday.  All the debaters had received the unequivocal instruction from the organizers of the debate not to enter with prepare text and that to read from a prepared document during the debate would be treated as cheating as the debaters were supposed to speak off heart.
Towards the end of the debate, Ubah himself caught Obiano flouting the rules of the game by reading his answers from a prepared text which he kept hidden from peoples’ view. Ubah, an action man and as a stickler for the rules, walked up to Obiano’s lectern, brought out the prepared notes from him and exposed the fraud.
Ubah said that the standard instruction that nobody should enter or read from prepared notes was totally and fraudulently flouted by somebody who wants to be a Anambra state Governor. Ubah has condemned this cheating and has called on the people of Anambra state to vow that such a person who have no respect for rules should not be allowed to be Governor of Anambra state. He said that cheating is cheating and that anybody who will cheat in small matters will also cheat in great ones.
Beyond all else, he has called on Obiano himself to, in the name of decency, immediately drop out from the race if he has any sense of shame. Then, according to Ubah, Obiano should beg the people of the state for forgiveness for having disgraced them by cheating during the debate. "If a man who claimed to have been a top-flight banker has no integrity,  then he is not worthy to be a state governor. Nigeria has arrived at the level where those who aspire to leadership positions must show good examples and be totally above board. But what Obiano did is to corrupt the youths by giving them a terrible example", Ubah added..

Dr Ifeanyi Ubah condemns Church Politics by Peter Obi** Condoles Uke people on the deaths

Dr. Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah, the Labour Party candidate in the Anambra state elections has condoled Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha and the people of Uke, especially the Catholic church there, whose members must have formed the majority of persons who were adoring God Almighty in a night vigil before the All Progressive Grand Alliance party visited them with the
may-hem that left about 30 worshipers dead and stunned the entire Anambra state, Nigeria and indeed the world at large. Dr. Ubah is the Labour Party (LP) flag-bearer for the Anambra state gubernatorial elections. The out-going Aanmbra Governor Peter Obi had gone to the Uke vigil ground to campaign for his godson Willie Boy Obiano and the gunshots of their security details either killed or caused a stampede or both which resulted in the truly avoidable deaths of innocent citizens.
Dr. Ubah who described the deaths as “horrendous” said that the tragedy was heightened simply because it was totally avoidable - if only the worshipers were allowed to hold their night vigil in peace. Instead, the Friday vigil at Uke was forced to become a campaign ground – even at an “ungodly” hour for politics.

People who came together to pray were being forced to listen to party political campaign.

Ubah said that “all people of good conscience and goodwill must condemn this tragedy at Uke where people who had gone to seek the face of God, and probably pray for Anambra state and Nigeria, were visited with death just because the APGA party, which was re-elected in Anambra state four years ago decided last Friday to change its style of giving death by slow motion through bad governance, to death on the fast lane – resulting in this tragedy of great proportions.   According to reports, disaster was far from the vigil grounds at Uke until the out-going Governor Peter Obi and the party’s flag-bearer for this month’s gubernatorial election in Anambra state, Mr. Tony Nwoye arrived there. As though nothing is sacred anymore, they began to replace the word of God in the vigil with their insensitive, ridiculous and blundering politics.
Ubah said that the recriminations and varying reports between eye witnesses and APGA’s spokesmen would not be enough to throw light on this atrocity. He said: “This is why I am calling on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency institute a Judicial Panel to ascertain and punish whoever caused the deaths of those innocent Anambrarians.  This matter must not be swept under the carpet. I will not allow it but I will fight to see that justice is done and the deaths of the innocent worshipers of the Almighty God in Uke is properly looked into, the guilty punished and due compensation must be paid to the families of the deceased.  The lives of Anambra peope will never again be snuffed out with no questions asked and the merchants of death will never again be allowed to go unpunished.
According to Ubah, if over 30 worshipers died on the spot and many more could have died in the hospitals or in the quiet of their homes, then the fatality figure would surely be more than 50.
Dr. Ubah called the fatality number truly “horrendous”.  He urged all Nigerians to join him in condemning “church politics”, but most especially he called on the Federal Government to “as a matter of urgency set up a panel to probe the may-hem, determine its cause, the actual number of those that died, punish those responsible for the deaths, and compensate the families of the bereaved. Anambra’s Governor Obi lacks the moral standing to probe the mayhem because he cannot be a judge in his own case; he and his godson Willie Boy Obiano are the accused persons here, and in this case where dozens of human lives are involved, there must be no sacred cows ” Ubah concluded.

No Rigging will be allowed in Anambra as INEC Chairman Prof Jega relocates to Anambra state

Prof Jega of INEC

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, will personally umpire the Anambra governorship election to ensure a credible election on November 16. He will be assisted by 21 commissioners and 15 Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs). The INEC Administrative Secretary, Mr Oscar-leo Amaechi, who made this known at
a stakeholders meeting of Inter-Agency Consultative Security Committee with political parties and candidates, reiterated the preparedness of the commission to conduct free and credible poll.
He urgePd political parties to submit the names of their agents on time to enable the commission train them on their roles during the election, warning that INEC would not allow substitution of agents on Election Day.
He disclosed that INEC would move election materials to registration centres close to polling booths to ensure that the election commenced at exactly 8 a.m.
This came as leaders of Idemili North and South, on the banner of Nzuko Imeobi, a socio-cultural organization, will this weekend continue their meeting  with political parties, their candidates and other stakeholders as part of the consultations that will finally lead to the endorsement of a candidate.
The leaders are expected to hold discussions with at least three political parties tomorrow where the leaders  will present them with the expectations of the people. Last week, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), led by its National Chairman Chief Victor Umeh and the party’s governorship candidate Mr. Willy Obiano had met with the Idemili leaders in Ogidi, where the people’s Charter of Demands was read and presented to them.
At the meeting, which was held at the residence of the Leader of the Nzuko Imeobi, Chief Obiora Okonkwo,  the  APGA national chairman hailed the uniqueness of the document and noted that Idemili had always been a difficult terrain for APGA and that the party was looking forward to a fruitful working relationship with the leaders.  Obiano promised to study the demands as he requested for the endorsement of the body.
Speaking on the move, Okonkwo said: “We can only endorse a candidate at the end of our consultations. We are being careful about the endorsement now because we want to pick someone who will not only deliver on the Charter, but will also be generally acceptable to the people. We have to go through this process because of what is at stake. We are meeting the candidates who have indicated interest to see us based on our recognized strengths, values and what will benefit the people.
The voting population of the  two councils is the largest in the state and we are not unmindful of that.  We appreciate the involvement of even the parties and their candidates in the consultations. This is the hallmark of grassroots and participatory democracy for the benefit of Anambra.”

The Office of Anambra State Deputy Governor as a Mirage & euphemism of 3rd term Agenda Called" Obiano"

Ladies and gentlemen , this is Liliacfire the truth exposer of the internet . Do you recognize the gentleman posing with the beauty queens ? No its NOT Ben Bruce of the SilverBird , its is your own Deputy Governor of Anambra state. Most of you do not remember his name , yes and that is true. He has been relegated to attending beauty peagants  Awards by Mr Peter Obi, he has never seen a Fidelity Bank cheque book of Anambra state, he does not even know when the I.G.R. lands from Abuja and when Victor Umeh collects his share and the rest of the sharing.
Ladies and gentlemen this is an insight into what Mr Obiano is going to be if elected. They have decided to pick a gentleman who will not argue or probe, who will forever be grateful to be selected and brought to lime light. Guess what then, ? That is the third term agenda of Mr Peter Obi to be in power for the next 8 years as agreed  with the center in Abuja . You think Liliacfire is guessing ? The confusion in P.D.P is not a coincidence by having two Governorship candidates, where have you heard that before, if not by powers from the center . That is part of the strategy to get APGA and Obiano in there , whom will eventually defect to PDP.
This continuity talk is an express train for a third term agenda in exchange for securing of Anambra state for GEJ 2015. There are only 2 candidates that can stop this at the ballot box and that is NGIGE and IFEANYI UBAH.  Vote wisely and protect your votes!!!!

Mr. Peter Obi has put up a reluctant candidate and his business partner to front his 3rd term adventure. Every speech or remark starts and ends with "I'll continue...., commission, ..... complete .
Third (3rd) term is unconstitutional and you do not want your friend Obi to desecrate the constitution.– the deputy governor must not show in any form that he/she has any plan or ambition to become the governor at the expiration of the term of the boss. So, why have a deputy governor who cannot take over when the governor’s tenure is over? Because the Constitution does not assign any specific role to the deputy governor, most governors make their deputies idle and redundant. Some governors completely sideline their deputies and make them less important than their appointed aides. But the ultimate tool the governors use to deal with their deputies is impeachment. Another twist to political life is that each state House of Assembly, which ideally should be independent and serve as a check on the governor, willingly and unashamedly allows the governor to put them completely into his pocket. Whatever the governor wants done gets done expressly. So, whenever the governor wants the deputy impeached, he sends word to the state assembly. Once a deputy governor is marked for impeachment by a governor, he is a goner. And because the Constitution does not ask for an election to be conducted to fill the vacant post of a deputy governor, impeachment has become a route to a governor getting a deputy that would be loyal to him like a lapdog, because the deputy owes his exaltation to the new office without an election to mercies of “His Excellency”. Once an elected deputy governor is impeached, the governor sends a letter to the state House of Assembly, submitting a name of the person he wants be his newly appointed deputy. In a matter of minutes, the lawmakers approve the name for the governor. Case closed! Since it has become clear that the governors have made the office of the Deputy Governor useless, unnecessary, redundant and derogatory, the onus is on the National Assembly to start the amendment of the Constitution to expunge that office from our Constitution. The commissioner of special duties or any other person should hold brief for the governor when he/she is ill, out of the country, on leave, and the like. And in the event of death, resignation, impeachment, incapacitation of the governor, the speaker of the House of Assembly should be the acting governor for three months before an election is held to choose a new governor. Our governors have rubbished the office of the Deputy Governor. There is no need to keep such an unnecessary office anymore and continue to waste national resources on it.
