Today, we also call you, the ever vibrant Nigerian Press and indeed call on all Nigerians to be witnesses to the evil plots by some of our opponents to rig the November 16 Anambra Governorship Election. We believe that if nothing is done about this, it has the potential of thwarting the wishes of Anambra people and create wide latitude for confusion and conflict, and tar the credibility of this all-important poll.
It’s saddening to note that while Senator Chris Ngige is crisscrossing the length and breadth of Anambra sensitizing and mobilizing the voters, some of his opponents are busy plotting how to shunt the process and secure a pyrrhic victory through the backdoor.
We wish to draw your attention to an Intelligence Report which revealed many of these evil plots. Senator Chris Ngige Campaign Organization can further confirm that indeed it is true and in fact fake Corpers, fake Policemen and fake Civil Defense officials are being imported into Anambra State and camped in certain locations.
We are equally aware that the aim of this grand design is to use these fake law enforcement officers to unleash mayhem in specific areas where Senator Chris Ngige is particularly very strong and victory-bound.
Some of the areas targeted by these desperate politicians are Idemili North and South Local Governments where Dr. Chris Ngige hails from, Ogbaru Local Government , Onitsha North and South and Nnewi North Local Government Areas, and some other places.
Apart from the planned mayhem, part of the plot is to delay the dispatching of electoral materials to these areas considered safe and winnable zones for Senator Ngige. By deliberately and clandestinely depriving these areas of electoral materials and by further unleashing mayhem there, they hope the electorate would be sufficiently frustrated out of voting and this will certainly deplete significantly the votes that would accrue to Senator Chris Ngige.
This evil and disingenuous plot is part of the grand design by these desperate politicians to win the Anambra Governorship election at all costs and foist on the people of Anambra State the Government that will continue to advance their business empire at the detriment of the poor masses of the State.
It is equally disheartening that while this startling discovery was made public; of candidates procuring fake uniforms for their thugs within and outside Anambra State, nothing appears to have been done by the Nigeria Police in terms of arrests, interrogation and prosecution. If not anything, our Intelligence Report shows that these nefarious activities are going on at an increased vigor and with greater impunity, as if the perpetrators are above the law.
The Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige Campaign Organization hereby call on the Nigerian Police and on all other relevant security agencies to rise to their statutory responsibilities and deal with this orchestrated plan to thwart Anambra Governorship Election by arresting the perpetrators who they themselves have already identified.
We equally call on the Independent National Electoral Commission to brace up to counter the gerrymandering being plotted by the same people and ensure that electoral materials leave for the locations as stipulated by the Electoral Act. Not doing so will create the unfortunate impression that the Commission has been compromised, as was the case in the last Governorship Election in the State in the year 2010.
We need not remind the Commission that the irreducible minimum requirement by the law is not just ensuring that materials leave within stipulated time, but further ensuring that every vote counts as well as ensuring a credible process. We are equally aware that there are plans also by the same desperadoes to force voters out of the Polling Booths before the announcement of the result. INEC must not allow this to happen if the results generated at the polling booths will be credible and acceptable.
This campaign Organization also recognizes the efforts of the Nigeria Police and those of INEC so far and we wish to express our implicit confidence in the ability of the two statutory Bodies to deliver a free, fair and credible election in November 16 and urge them to rise above the situation.
Finally, we call on the good people of Anambra state not to be afraid to discharge their civic responsibility by voting and defending their votes and to resist all provocations to be involved in any act of violence.
